I have an obsession with cooking magazines.... yes. An Obsession....
But that's OK!! B/c it gives me something to dream about - that someday - I will have a kitchen all to myself again, and will be able to use all of the appliances that are stored in my parents garage once more! Until then, I suffer thru buying ingredients and running to a friends place and happily making dinner for them...
This week, I bought the newest edition of my 2 favorite magazines - Everyday (with Rachel Ray) and The Food Network Magazine *sigh*. I have yet to go thru them b/c I'm kinda limited on time, but I will start to flip thru them tonight & report on my findings!
The Duchess of Dinner & The Tales of Kitchen Keep
Once Upon a Time, there was a young - 20-something year old woman that was obsessed with cookbooks and magazines. These are the tales of her adventures in the kitchen and on the grill, in the oven and out of the frying pan. Thru Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Lack of a Kitchen & Issues of LiFe
I know that I should probably cook more than I do, I should probably do more from scratch and I should probably eat healthier, but lets be honest, JUNK FOOD IS SOOOO GOOD!!! Grease, sugar, salt - it's all DELICIOUS! How am I suppose to avoid something that is so tasty!?!?
Secondly, I have to share a kitchen with a large number of people, which makes my life difficult. I'm not talking about like, the 7 girls that were in my Sorority House, I mean like, and entire building of people sharing one kitchen - were meaning, like at least 70 people. PAIN IN MY @$$. Anyway - so that makes things a little difficult.
Third, I have an addiction to cook books, and magazines. It's like torture to buy the magazines and not be able to cook anything b/c I have a tiny fridge that has to be kept in "inspection order" - it just makes life a lot more depressing. All i get to do is stare at the pretty pictures and IMAGINE myself cooking them, lol!
This past week, I've had the most refreshing experience. My boyfriend and I have been house-sitting/dog-sitting for our friends - and instead of living in the dorms, we've been staying there. I feel like a real person again, even tho I know that we're only "playing house" - but we intend to get married hopefully within the next year....I would honestly prefer to get married late next spring, like, between April and July (perfect time in both Texas AND Ohio for wedding/reception stuff :) But I felt like we had a real life together - at least for this past week, and I got a glimpse into the future of what our life will be like together, and I'm even more excited than I have been through our relationship. I can't wait to spend forever with him, and to think that I've already started is wonderful :)
On top of that, I swear ALL of my friends are getting married. I WANNA GET MARRIED! LOL! Naw, I understand that we would be more than happy to get married yesterday, lol - but he wants to meet each others families first - which could take a while. Everytime I hear from someone, it's always that they're getting married, or their cousin, or sibling, or best friend - it's CRAZY! I love the idea of planning our wedding, and honestly, kinda already playing with ideas, but I know it's about a year away. I'm thinking Peacock colors, or Penguin colors - so...shades of teal and green or black, white, orange and yellow.
OK, that's all for now, hopefully soon I'll start working on my official blogging - after my boyfriends leaves for his next base next week.

My Promise to YOU! {and mostly to myself}
So! My intentions are as follows...
I want to use this as a tool to showcase my works of deliciousness (or not so much), and hopefully inspire others to do the same thing. I'm not working with much, but what I do have is a LOT of cookbooks, and magazines, and pamphlets.... I mean, more than the average kitchen goddess I suppose - especially with the means that I have. My favorite thing to do is to buy my favorite magazines {Everyday w/ Rachel Ray} and {The Food Network Magazine} and flip thru them and dream of all the wonderful things I'm going to do when I have a kitchen of my own again.
I will take pictures of all of my meals & dishes and post them, even if they don't turn out right, even if they're gross tasting, or if they come from boxes. I strongly believe that delicious things come out of boxes too, and not all of us have time to make everything from scratch!! LOL! If I find a recipe I want to try, or that I am trying, I will post the recipe and the magazine/book that it came from. That way, if you like how it sounds and how the "real person" picture comes out - you can try it too! :)
I can not promise, however, a constant stream of pictures and recipes. With my job it's impossible to know when i'll have time to cook a real meal. What I will promise is some amusing stories, some laughs, some obvious frustration, and some delicious recipes and tasty looking pictures :)
